Patience.

I try to avoid lying.

Lack of tallness.

The AC repairman who didn’t show up.

Sense of humor.

My husband.

Finishing my novel before the plane lands.

Museum director, of course.

Attention to detail.

Kindness, loyalty, forgiveness.

Our guards at the museum, who are untiring and unfailingly terrific.
