Duke beats Wake in dual

The Duke men’s and women’s cross country teams swept the Wake Forest Dual Saturday for each squad’s second win of the season.

On the men’s side, senior Josh Lund won the first race of his collegiate career, while finishing in 24:52. He was closely followed by ten of his teammates—including junior Andrew Brodeur, who posted a time a scant tenth-of-a-second slower—to earn the race’s top-11 finishing times. Blue Devils James Kostelnik, Clint McKelvey and Bo Waggoner rounded out the top-5 for Duke.

The women’s team was almost equally as dominant, winning 20-37 by earning six of the top-10 finishes, including four of the top-5. Carly Seymour won the race with a winning time of 17:29 in the 5k race, and was closely followed by teammate Juliet Bottorff at 17:31. Emily Schwitzer and Katelyn Bastert finished in fourth and fifth with times of 17:50 and 18:24, respectively.

Next up for the men’s team is a trip to Minneapolis, Minn. for the Roy Griak Invitational on Sept. 25. On the same day, the women’s team will compete in the William and Mary Invite in Williamsburg, Va.
