Rumors have been swirling for weeks now about a possible Duke-Butler rematch, and today, they were fanned just a little bit more with a tweet from @ButlerBasketbal -- which describes itself as "The leading unofficial source for all things Butler Basketball" -- that was re-tweeted by Duke Blue Planet, an official Duke Basketball account manned by Dave Bradley, the team's recruiting and communications coordinator:
Butler will play Duke (@dukeblueplanet) in a championship game rematch on 12/4 at the Meadowlands in NJ.
Sports information officials from Duke and Butler, though, told The Chronicle that nothing is official yet.
"There's been an ongoing discussion and contracts have been exchanged, but as far as I know there's no signed contract, so no official game," Butler SID Jim McGrath said.
We'll keep an eye on the situation if anything else unfolds, as both sides are tight lipped at this time and anything could happen.
