Duke Adds First Commitment For 2011

While the ACC Tournament has been the big news this weekend, Duke fans got good news in terms of the future earlier this weekend when Class of 2011 small forward Michael Gbinije verbally committed to the Blue Devils. Gbinije is rated as a five-star recruit by scout.com and fourth in the country at his position, while rivals.com rates Gbinije as a four-star, but still in the top 30 players in the country.

Gbinije is the first commitment in Duke's 2011 recruiting class. The Blue Devils are also heavily pursuing highly-touted recruits Austin Rivers, Quincy Miller, and Marshall Plumlee, amongst others. Plumlee is believed to be favoring the Blue Devils, and has been seen cheering on his brothers numerous times in Cameron this season. Miller, on the other hand, is believed to be deciding between Duke and Kentucky, and his recruitment has been very hard to read, even by the experts. Ironically enough, some experts feel most confident that Rivers will eventually be a Blue Devil, even though he is currently committed to Florida (a decision he made very early on in the process, but then he reopened his recruitment to just Duke). In his diary on highschoolhoop.com, Rivers said he plans on making his final decision between the Blue Devils and the Gators before the start of his senior year.
