Irving Not A Blue Devil Just Yet

SNY's Adam Zagoria reported Tuesday night that point guard Kyrie Irving has committed to Duke, but Irving has put the brakes on that announcement—for now.

Zagoria cited three anonymous sources who all said Irving was on the brink of joining the Blue Devil program. One of them, an unnamed coach who recruited the point guard, said, "He has committed. I heard that from [a Duke assistant].”

Irving, though, refuted that announcement on his Twitter account rather directly. He tweeted "I have not commited to duke!!!" last night, and followed that up with this:

"I will be deciding between Texas a and m duke and Kentucky.. I have not commited to duke..I will be announcing on espn u"

The Chronicle will be posting continuous updates on Irving's recruiting situation in the coming hours and days as he prepares to announce his decision. Irving, a New Jersey native, is the ninth-ranked player in the nation and second-ranked point guard in the Class of 2010.
