Jackson Released from Team

Junior running back Tony Jackson has been dismissed from David Cutcliffe's squad for "failing to uphold the standard of conduct" of a Blue Devil student-athlete. Jackson is the second player to be released from the team this summer, following the departure of fifth-year senior Zack Asack.

Jackson was the team's third-leading rusher in 2008, gaining 259 yards on 76 carries. He also caught 12 passes for 106 yards, including Duke's lone touchdown catch in a 10-7 victory over Vanderbilt Oct. 25.

The Blue Devils still return last season's leading rusher, Jay Hollingsworth. The sophomore will likely split carries with senior Re'quan Boyette, who redshirted last season, and incoming four-star recruit Desmond Scott.
