Cutcliffe's Lighter Side

Congregating with the Triangle's three other football coaches at the Triangle Pigskin Preview Thursday, David Cutcliffe mixed in wisdom about football with summer reading recommendations and other personal anecdotes.

Some of Cutcliffe's insights, per Triangle Offense's report:

  • On the most overused words in football: “What the hell is he doing?”
  • On his nickname: "'Cotch,' in Alabama parlance, from when his childhood friends learned he wanted to do this for a living.”
  • On his suggested reading list:  Success Is Not An Accident by Tommy Newberry and The Tender Bar by J. R. Moehringer.
  • On Duke's toughest opponent this year: “N.C. State, Carolina and N.C. Central.”

Something tells me his last answer might depend on who's asking--just a hunch.
