Sharing the dream

We would like to thank the author of the anonymous April 3 guest commentary, "Is it too much to dream?" for sharing his experiences as an undocumented person living in the United States. It is too often that the experiences and stories of undocumented people remain invisible and unknown to Duke students.

For this student to have been accepted to Duke and to remain as an upperclassmen is an tremendous feat, one that should not go without recognition. Each year thousands of undocumented children are brought unwillingly across our border. When they arrive in the U.S., they are forced with unimaginable choices and a string of dead ends. The passing of the DREAM Act is crucial in providing hope and opportunities for many brilliant students.
