GPSC names Young Trustee semifinalists

The Board of Trustees is comprised of 37 members, two of whom-the "Young Trustees"-are drawn from the graduate and professional schools. The Graduate and Professional Student Council elects one student each February from three finalists selected by a screening committee.

"We ended up getting one of the largest application numbers we've had in recent years," said Gautham Pandiyan, chair of the Young Trustee Screening Committee for GPSC, who added that three finalists will be chosen by the second week in February.

The selection process was modified last year, and the election Feb. 26 will involve speeches from each candidate, a 15-minute moderated question-and-answer session with all three candidates present and a 15-minute open-question session. Following brief closing remarks from the three candidates, representatives of GPSC and the Board of Trustees standing committee will have a closed discussion to select the Young Trustee.
