Holding onto the lead for more than 12 minutes in the first half, unranked Georgia Southern was beating No. 10 Duke at home in Cameron Indoor Stadium.
But with a 7-0 run, the Blue Devils brought the score to 19-18 with just over seven minutes to play in the first half, and traded control five times with the Eagles before taking a lead Duke would only expand upon for remainder of the game.
Duke (2-0) clamped down on defense and defeated Georgia Southern (1-1), 72-48, in the second round of the CBE Classic Monday night.
"The last four minutes of the first half and then the second half we played really good
defensively," head coach Mike Krzyzewski said. "We've been playing well in the two
exhibition games and the two games here, well defensively and that won the game for us."
