Sheryl Crow

It would be too easy to blame Sheryl Crow's painfully lackluster new album Wildflower on her not-so-recent-anymore fling with Lance Armstrong. While one could argue that Lance has caused Ms. Crow's heart to flutter away into the land of bad songwriting, the truth is she's been stuck there since her debut.

Sure, Sheryl's had a decent single from time to time, but unless they're playing in your mom's SUV as she drives little Johnny to soccer practice, any public acknowledgment of liking her is a recipe for immediate social ostracizing. But even if you're one of those die-hard fans who loves humming along to lyrics about soaking up the sun and living that good life of a 40-something rock chick, Crow's latest record Wildflower will do nothing but let you down.

The first song highlights Sheryl's failure at writing a good pop song, but the pain doesn't stop there. Even the single "Good is Good" is a boring, cliched song that's probably about some made-up hard time in her life, but instead, is really just a bunch of pseudo-thoughtful drivel meant to, well, please your high school principal's ears. The moral of the story: Buy Wildflower if your mom's birthday is coming up soon, or if you're a masochist.
