Staff Reports: ECC: Eliminate breakfast plan

East Campus Council passed a resolution Monday night recommending that, starting in the 2004-2005 school year, the University eliminate the weekday breakfast requirement from the first-year board meal plan and students be allowed to purchase breakfast on points.

The change would reduce the number of required meals a week from 12 to seven.

According to the resolution, only 37.5 percent of the freshman class attended breakfast in the Marketplace on any given weekday in the month of January, meaning more than 60 percent paid for breakfast that they did not attend.

ECC Chair Joel Kliksberg said the resolution will be sent on to Vice President for Student Affairs Larry Moneta and Director of Dining Services Jim Wulforst this week.
