Residents of Durham county have an important opportunity to express their political views, as a three city council seats, a school bond referendum, a proposal to lengthen the terms of county commissioners and the position of Durham mayor will be decided at the polls today. Those members of the Duke community eligible to vote should take the time to cast their ballot.
Voting is an important part of all eligible voters' civic duties, and the issue on the ballot are certainly not trivial. The candidates for the mayoral position and city council seats hold many opposing viewpoints, and the election's outcome will affect Duke in many important ways.
Duke is inextricably linked to the city and county of Durham, and it is the responsibility of those members of the community who are eligible and informed, to vote today.
