A Tale of Two Nellys

One word describes this year's music scene: Nelly.

Rap star Nelly has already topped the charts with his album Country Grammar. Canuck singer Nelly Furtado, eh, might be making her way to the top soon with her debut disc, Whoa, Nelly.

But beyond first names, how much do these two artists have in common?

Jumblespeak: Nelly's claim to fame is using non-existent words and slang to name his songs. Nelly Furtado's has a song called "Trynna Finda Way." At press time, "trynna" and "finda" were not words recognized by the American Heritage Dictionary.

Nellys de Sade?: They may be as disparate as a hammer and a biscuit, but these two goofballs have a penchant for pain. Furtado has a song called, "I Will Make U Cry." In Nelly's "Thicky Thick Girl," he brags about hurting his bedroom wall during some, uh, bedroom acrobatics with a biggun: "Got 'em bangin the walls so hard the neighbors callin.'"

Who's a whore?: Rap Nelly writes about sexual things a lot in his songs, making constant references to sexual intercourse, the apparently large size of his penis and how he is some kind of pimp who deserves monetary compensation for his sexual services. Furtado is an aspiring, young and naîve musician-need we say more?
