Casio Cassiopeia

Casio is no stranger to top quality electronics. Such is the case with their latest handheld, the EM-500. Running Windows Pocket PC with 16MB of memory and the best color display I've seen on a handheld, the EM-500 is clearly the most superior from a hardware perspective. As a Pocket PC, the EM-500 offers features that none of the Palm devices have, such as MP3 and video playback, pocket versions of Microsoft Word and Excel and the ability to expand its already large memory.

Along with its photo-quality display, the EM-500 gave crystal-clear MP3 playback on the built in speakers. Other extras include a built-in voice recorder and infrared port. While the unit synched well with my PC, it was slower than the others. It also has the lowest battery life of all the units-at 7 hours, you'll do a lot of recharging.

For $499, the EM-500's functionality doesn't come cheap. Being a Pocket PC, it also doesn't support the popular Palm software. And just like Windows on your PC, Pocket PC is more prone to crashing.
