Mi Gente dance to aid hurricane victims

This Friday, April 16, Mi Gente: Asociaci-n de Estudiantes Latinos will be sponsoring its first annual Spring Charity Dance to benefit the Hurricane Andrew victims of Miami. We hope that while working for a good cause, we will also have the opportunity to share an integral aspect of the Latino culture: our distinctive music and dances. For this purpose, we have been fortunate enough to bring to Duke an authentic, live band, "La Orquesta Granillo," who will play merengue, salsa, Latin jazz, and cumbia, among other Latin rhythms. We are happy to provide dance lessons Thursday at 8 p.m. in Von Canon A, and during the first hour of the semiformal.

Remember that while we are within the sheltered walls of Duke there are still many homeless people in Miami. Join us this Friday at the Multipurpose Center on Central Campus, from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.. Tickets are now being sold on the Bryan Center Walkway.
