ESG Young Trustee endorsement

Engineering Student Government is pleased to officially endorse Anna Knight for Young Trustee. While Anna is a great representative of Pratt, she also has many perspectives on Trinity and campus life as a whole. After careful consideration of each candidate’s proposals for Duke, ESG agreed that Anna’s ideas best encompass the interests of Duke’s student body. While we thought that David Robertson and Nikolai Doytchinov were both strong candidates, Anna stood out as leader who can effectively speak for all Duke students, and the engineering community in particular.

Anna’s role as the previous Engineering Student Government president has provided her with knowledge of campus, involvement with student groups, leadership experience and strong interactions with many organizations throughout Duke. As a Pratt student, Anna has a particular knowledge of the challenges that Pratt faces. As a founding member of the ESG’s Academic Action Committee, Anna has demonstrated her ability to make a positive difference in the undergraduate academic involvement in Pratt. She has effectively proved her ability to voice student opinions and ideas to Pratt administration to achieve results. Anna also works closely with the Engineering Alumni Council, and has experience negotiating with deans, faculty and board members. ESG is confident that Anna will bring her initiative, strong voice, and negotiation skills to her role on the Board.

We were impressed by Anna’s commitment to maintain strong undergraduate research opportunities at Duke. Anna recognizes the importance of student access to resources, and is committed to using Duke’s funds to provide opportunities for undergraduate research and exploration. Anna’s desire for preserving opportunities for Duke students typifies her ability to voice student interests in the face of a changing Duke environment.

Anna Knight is sure to be a welcome addition to the Board of Trustees. For Pratt students, and for all students, ESG is confident that Anna Knight will best represent our voice.
