The day following the draft, the Washington Mystics reached out to Peters regarding a possible position on their roster. Only a week later, Peters signed a training camp contract with the Mystics.
"I found out the day after the draft Washington was going to give me chance to be at their training camp and to compete for a spot," Peters said. "It's a really good place for me to be at in terms of who they have and what needs they need to fill... I'm really excited about it."
At the WNBA draft, fellow Blue Devil seniors Chelsea Gray and Tricia Liston were selected with the 11th and 12th overall picks. Although she said she is grateful for her opportunity with the Mystics, the feeling of going undrafted still stings.
"I was really disappointed on Monday right after the draft," Peters said. "I thought that there was a really good chance that I would get drafted. It was a long night after the draft trying to figure out what my options were."
In her final season at Duke, Peters averaged 11.2 points and a tied-for-team-best 7.6 rebounds.Known for her aggressive work on the boards, Peters ended her Duke career with 826 rebounds, good for sixth overall in program history.

"Coach Thibault has been to a bunch of our practices," Peters said. "He's pretty good friends with Coach Brown on our staff, so I've gotten to know Coach Thibault a little bit. After our season ended this year, I was at a combine and I got to talk to him a little bit."
Peters will now report to Washington, D.C., for training camp, which starts Sunday. Washington kicks its season off May 16, giving Peters three weeks to earn her spot on the team.
