Carrick Felix, a 6-foot-6 wing player from the College of Southern Idaho, announced via his facebook page Tuesday that he intended to accept Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski's scholarship offer and join the Blue Devils.

Georgia Tech 71, Duke 67, FINAL: With an imposing presence in the final stretch of the game, Gani Lawal was the hero as the Yellow Jackets downed the Blue Devils 71-67 Saturday afternoon in Atlanta. Out of a Georgia Tech timeout at the 1:11 mark, Lawal scored on a jumper with just over a minute to go to give Georgia Tech a four point lead. Duke missed on its next shot and Georgia Tech snared the ensuing rebound, but a successful corner trap by Duke led to a loose ball that bounced right to Miles Plumlee for an easy slam that narrowed the lead to two with :35 left. But perfect (7-for-7) free throw shooting by the Yellow Jackets down the stretch doomed the Blue Devils and sealed their second loss in as many true road games this season. Georgia Tech's intensity on the glass in the second half was a huge deciding factor in the contest. After trailing 20-12 in the rebounding margin at halftime, the Yellow Jackets pulled down 26 second-half boards to give them a 38-32 edge over Duke in the category at the game's end.
After opening ACC play by cruising to a 74-53 home win over Clemson Jan. 3, the Blue Devils will face their first conference road test in Atlanta against No. 20 Georgia Tech. After finishing last in the ACC with only two conference wins during the 2008-2009 season, the Yellow Jackets had high expectations for this season after adding freshman phenom Derrick Favors, who was ranked by most recruiting services above even Kentucky’s John Wall coming out of high school. Favors and Georgia Tech have hit a bump in the road lately, dropping their ACC opener against Florida State in overtime Dec. 20 and losing a rivalry matchup with Georgia in their most recent game, meaning the Blue Devils should expect a tough test against a Yellow Jackets team fresh off a loss. The game will be televised at 2 p.m. EST on ESPN with Brad Nessler and Jay Bilas commentating.
Duke basketball isn't the only campus program to recently suffer a big recruiting loss.
Duke 96, UNC-G 62; FINAL: The Blue Devils throttled up the offense down the stretch to blow out the Spartans by 34. The height difference between the two teams ultimately made it too tough for UNC-G to recover missed shots or counter Duke's points off put back baskets. Singler led all Duke scorers with 20 points, while Scheyer chipped in 18 points. Plumlee led all Duke players with 9 rebounds.

Recent Duke grads Cameron Goldberg, Mike Tauiliili and Eron Riley all failed to make the cut when the 53-man rosters of the Chiefs, Colts and Ravens were announced over the weekend. Riley, however, seems to have the inside track on suiting up in an NFL game this year.
According to a press release issued by the Cape Cod Baseball League, Duke outfielder/pitcher Alex Hassan has signed a contract with the Boston Red Sox, who drafted him in the 20th round of this year's MLB First-Year Player Draft. A Boston area native, Hassan recieved a $90,000 signing bonus as well as an additional $45,000 to complete his college education.
Duke's bleak backcourt picture just got a whole lot brighter.
As one of Baseball America's top 100 draft prospects, Miami prep catcher Steven Baron was easily one of the top commits the Blue Devils have landed in recent years. But MLB teams were just as interested in the South Florida product, and one month after the Seattle Mariners tabbed Baron with the draft's 33rd overall pick, a near-million dollar bonus and the chance to jump straight to the pros proved too good to pass up.

Washington Post columnist, NPR contributor and two-time former Chronicle sports editor John Feinstein, Trinity '77, underwent a heart bypass operation Monday morning, according to his blog Feinstein on The Brink.
As expected, Elliot Williams will be heading home. Five days after receiving his release from Duke in order to play closer to his ailing mother, Williams made official his transfer to play for his hometown Memphis Tigers. The St. George School product didn't see much action in his first few months as a Blue Devil but came on strong after assuming a spot in the starting lineup during the final third of the season.
Although much of the pre-draft speculation coming from Seattle Mariners blogs and beat writers was that Duke commit and top prep catcher Steven Baron had agreed to a pre-draft contract with the team, a recent report in the Miami Herald sheds some doubt that a Baron signing is a fait accompli.
After informing reporters before Game 3 of the NBA Finals that he would defer any decision on coaching the 2012 US Men's Olympic team until July, Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski appeared on the Dan Patrick radio show Thursday morning, hitting on a wide range of topics from the NBA Finals to the NBA's one-and-done rule.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas—Propelled by a strong performance in doubles and a quick start in singles that saw five of six Duke women win their opening sets, the No. 3 Blue Devils cruised to a 4-0 win over No. 8 California en route to the 2009 national title in women's tennis. The win marked the University's first ever national title and 10th overall team national title.
Although no Duke player was selected during the seven rounds of the 2009 NFL Draft, at least two former Blue Devil players will have a shot at a NFL roster this summer. Offensive Lineman Cameron Goldberg (Chiefs) and Wide Reciever Eron Riley (Ravens) each signed contracts as undrafted free agents on Sunday after the completion of the Draft's final rounds.
According to a report in the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, the Blue Devils will travel to Madison for a road game against the Wisconsin Badgers during next year's ACC/Big Ten Challenge. Duke will play Wisconsin Wednesday Dec. 2 with the time yet to be determined. This would be the Blue Devils' second meeting with the Badgers in the Challenge. They last played Nov. 27, 2007 when Duke downed Wisconsin 82-58 in Cameron Indoor Stadium.
