Hassan Signs With Red Sox

According to a press release issued by the Cape Cod Baseball League, Duke outfielder/pitcher Alex Hassan has signed a contract with the Boston Red Sox, who drafted him in the 20th round of this year's MLB First-Year Player Draft. A Boston area native, Hassan recieved a $90,000 signing bonus as well as an additional $45,000 to complete his college education.

Hassan signed his contract last Thursday, when he participated in the Cape Cod Baseball League All-Star game held at Fenway Park. Hassan was hitting .298 for the Orleans Firebirds, where he was teammates with fellow Duke juniors Michael Ness and Jeremy Gould.
