Duke alumnus integrates music into everyday life

Ge Wang, assistant professor at Stanford University’s Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics, spent his undergraduate years at Duke studying computer science and simultaneously imbuing his projects for the major with his love for music. Since graduating in 2000 from the Pratt School of Engineering, Wang has been involved in the Princeton Laptop Orchestra, developed an audio programming language called ChucK and founded the instrument app company Smule.



Students rush to take advantage of Halloween Sale

This year, the sale seemed to be more popular as the normally quiet store saw a huge spike in activity. Customers wandered from the clothing to memorabilia sections, picking up Duke-brand gifts and forming long queues in front of the registers. A spooky-themed book sale went on in the bookstore, and some employees were dressed up in costumes, all while Halloween music was playing and free candy was being offered.
