Ex-Duke commitment Humphries signs with Minnesota
In a move that could sway Virginia's pivotal expansion vote, the Atlantic Coast Conference presidents decided Wednesday to invite Virginia Tech to join the ACC, the Associated Press reported Wednesday evening.
The Big East Conference football schools - West Virginia, Virginia Tech, Connecticut, Rutgers and Pittsburgh - filed a lawsuit last Friday in the state Superior Court in Hartford, Conn., against the ACC and would-be ACC schools Miami and Boston College.
The proposed expansion of the Atlantic Coast Conference, which appeared to be progressing quickly just one week ago, has been considerably disrupted following President Nan Keohane's withholding of her support for the expansion plan, a lawsuit filed by the Big East Conference against the ACC and would-be members Miami and Boston College and a call for mediation from the NCAA by Virginia governor Mark Warner.
Men's basketball lands second member of class of 2007
So much for fast starts.
Last weekend was an important one for the men's basketball program. Four of the nation's top ten recruits in the class of 2007 were in the Durham area for the BeActive Tournament of Champions, a high school tournament that was played on the campuses of Duke, North Carolina and North Carolina State.
