Despite not playing the last 18 holes of the competition, Duke finished in second place behind host North Florida in a tournament including nine other teams in the top 50 of the latest Golfweek rankings. The Blue Devils fired a five-under 571, 12 shots behind the Ospreys.

The Blue Devils left the 2013 ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships with program-best finishes for both the men and women. The women’s team closed out the competition in third place with 82 points behind Clemson’s 141.5 and Florida State’s 100 points. The men’s 52-point total earned them a fifth-place finish in Blacksburg, Va.

The Blue Devils will travel nearly 700 miles to Cambridge, Mass. this weekend to participate in the MIT Duals. The team will not be flying that distance, and instead will traverse the Atlantic coast by bus—the ride is estimated to take about 12 hours. Despite the long distance traveled, Duke head coach Alex Beguinet does not think that his team will be phased.

Although Duke beat Wake Forest 80-62 to kick off ACC play, that was at Cameron Indoor Stadium. As the Blue Devils look to match the 10th-best start in program history, they will have to travel to Winston-Salem, N.C. to take on a Demon Deacon squad at Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Colliseum that has some notable home wins under its belt.

It was a smooth day in the pool for juniors Christine Wixted and Hunter Knight as the two glided in wins in both the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke in their last dual meet of the season against North Carolina. Despite both of their solid performances, the Blue Devil men and women fell short against the Tar Heels losing 164-128 in men’s competition and 166-127 in women’s action. Duke finished with nine individual wins and one relay win on the afternoon.

Time and time again, the Blue Devils have proven to be a second half team. Despite going into halftime down 28-27 to Georgia Tech, Duke was able to surge past the Yellow Jackets in the second half to secure its third conference win of the season.
