The Duke College Republicans are pleased to lend their support to Tucker Albert in the DSG election. With DCR being a political group, our endorsement can call a candidate's politics into question—as any student here knows, though, the DSG's operations are scarcely political. Ideology irrelevant then, we asked which candidate put forward more concrete proposals and promised an energetic effort to see them pass.

The Duke College Republicans are happy to announce our endorsement of Matt Davis for the undergraduate Young Trustee position. Davis’ background as a biomedical engineering major in the Pratt School of Engineering, along with his undergraduate research experiences, will provide the Board of Trustees with a fresh perspective that distinguishes him from both the other candidates and the current Young Trustees on the Board. Davis’ experience in financial leadership through his work on the Board of Directors of the Duke Student Publishing Company positions him well to advocate for intelligent fiscal policies. In his words, “A penny saved is a penny saved forever,” and it is with this lens that Duke University should approach its financial decisions to ensure we manage our endowment responsibly. Additionally, the Duke College Republicans appreciate Davis’ bottom-up approach to addressing campus culture issues. He understands it is student leaders who are in the best position to resolve student issues. Overall, Davis’ leadership and diverse and informed experiences make him the ideal candidate for the Young Trustee position.
In an extremely tight vote, Duke College Republicans voted to endorse Mike Lefevre for DSG president. We endorse Lefevre with Will Passo as second preference in the instant runoff.
Chelsea Goldstein and John Harpham are the only two serious candidates for Young Trustee, and their skill sets are what distinguish them in the end.
