Women's NCAA Tournament provides surprises, thrills

Arguably the most exciting event in all of sports, March Madness invigorates even the most stoic of spectators. The mayhem lasts nearly three weeks as it showcases the best teams and players in college basketball. Whether you cheer for the perennial powers in women's hoops like Tennessee and Connecticut, or for the surprise teams like Arkansas or Harvard, one thing is for sure-it is going to be exciting.


Men's golf finishes fourth at Cuscowilla Intercollegiate Tourney

The Duke men's golf team competed Tuesday in in the Cuscowilla Intercollegiate Tournament in Eatonton, Ga. The 12-team field, competing in this three-round tournament, featured 10 nationally ranked teams. No. 3 Georgia Tech and No. 4 Clemson were on hand seeking a title and looking to bolster their high national rankings. All told, six of the teams are ranked in the top 25.




Lady Vols remain unbeatable but rest of NCAAs look wide open

There has been much dialogue about the parity between teams this women's basketball season. Obviously, someone forgot to inform Tennessee about this notion of parity. Tennessee has sliced through the opposition like a hot knife through butter and this weekend they will begin its quest for a third consecutive national championship when the NCAA Tournament begins.



Several members of the women's track squad put together strong performances in ECAC meet in Boston

Sunday at the ECAC meet in Boston, sprinter Kristin Sbarra proved that you can indeed go home again. Sbarra returned to the northeast with friends and family watching to compete against some of the finest athletes in the country. On the same track that she had run on in high school, Sbarra and the women's distance medley relay team set a school record en route to All-East honors.






Grant sets school mark in long jump as Duke men finish 8th at ACCs

The third time is the charm. Just ask long jumper Lamar Grant. At the Atlantic Coast Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships February 22-23 in Blacksburg, Va., Grant raised more than a few eyebrows. Grant's first jump of nearly 25' was discarded after the judge raised the yellow flag, indicating that he had fouled. His second jump was also thrown out because of a foul.
