Duke Health to install weapons detection systems at some entrances as attacks on health care staff increase nationwide

Duke University Health System announced that it would install weapons screening systems “similar to those used at public event venues” at the main public entrances of its three hospitals in a Tuesday release.

Reuben-Cooke Building basement offices evacuated after flooding, snake sightings

The Reuben-Cooke building’s basement offices were evacuated over winter break due to flooding. The building, which houses sociology and psychology classrooms and offices, has also been home to some snakes over the last few months, according to graduate students.

One hundred thirty six tents walked into Cameron Indoor Stadium last night. Seventy Black tents walked out. Over one-fourth of Duke’s undergraduate population took K-Ville’s Black tenting test Thursday, with the hopes of punching their ticket to the Feb. 4 men’s basketball game against the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Democrat Valerie Foushee wins 4th Congressional District, NC to send 7 Democrats, 7 Republicans to U.S. House

Democrat Valerie Foushee is projected to win her election to represent North Carolina’s 4th Congressional District, which includes Durham County, Orange County, Person County, Granville County, Alamance County and parts of Caswell County. She will succeed U.S. Rep. David Price, who announced in October 2021 that he will retire at the end of his term. 


Duke fencing 2022-23 season preview

As the Blue Devils return to action in the coming weeks, one thing is likely on their minds for the 2022-23 season: redemption. After winning the ACC title in 2021 and earning 11 individual titles at the tournament to set a program record, Duke fell short of expectations in its last campaign despite an impressive regular season. Losing out to national champion Notre Dame in its efforts for a back-to-back championship, both the men’s and women’s sides will look to rebound and restore their ACC supremacy.
