Captain and starting libero Mackenzie Cole is going to be surrounded by a familiar face this season.
With 11 returning members, Duke has the chemistry and experience for a season of success. Mackenzie Cole and Alex Springate, two members of the squad who have been invaluable since their start, are the captains for the 2021 season. Four freshmen have also joined along with graduate student Taylor Cole, who is Mackenzie’s sister.
Entering this week, only 25 Duke players had ever amassed 1,000 career kills. But Monday afternoon, senior Payton Schwantz joined that exclusive club.

If her accuracy can return to the level it was at during her sophomore year, she will have the confidence and experience to lead the Duke volleyball team to have a winning season.
