Durham transplant Jamie Stewart released his eighth studio album under the Xiu Xiu name, Dear God, I Hate Myself, Tuesday. The oddly knowledgeable Jonathan Wall caught up with the former Bay Area denizen before the album’s release to talk about his turbulent 2009 with supergroup Former Ghosts, a band shake-up that saw the entry of Duke Law student Angela Seo and his warmer feelings toward his newly adopted home.

Sometimes, you can go home again. This was the lesson that Maryland senior quarterback Scott McBrien found out last year. McBrien, a native of Rockville, Md, signed to play football at West Virginia out of Dematha High School. After a coaching change, however, McBrien soon found himself at the bottom of the depth chart with few prospects of ever playing. McBrien decided a change of scenery was necessary.


Davidson upsets men's soccer

The last time Davidson (6-2-2) beat Duke in men's soccer, the original George Bush was President and there were kegs on West Campus. It took thirteen years, but the Blue Devils (2-7-1) were finally defeated by Davidson 2-0 Wednesday night at Richardson Stadium in Davidson, NC. The loss constitutes the latest of the struggles for Duke, as the team has now lost four games in a row and seven of their last eight contests.
