Chick-fil-A must go

(01/28/11 11:00am)

Over the years, Duke has had a number of situations where it put pressure on companies that have ties to the University. I can recall a time when Students Against Sweatshops had demonstrations out in front of the chapel. Now, the Duke University Stores is pretty particular about where the garments they sell are made and the conditions of the workers who make them (OK, maybe not the Nike ones, but you get my point).

Rashid-Farokhi's work on ADA inspires supporter

(02/26/99 5:00am)

I am writing on behalf of a friend of mine who is running for DSG president, Trinity junior Amir Rashid-Farokhi. Being a freshman I have not been at the University that long, and being a disabled student I have gone through my share of problems since coming to Duke. But one thing I can tell you is that Amir has a real commitment to making things better for the student body. I have spoken to him many times about the Americans with Disabilities Act compliance problems that exist at the University. He has done extensive research in this area in order to try and devise a plan or propose a change to the University's policy concerning the compliance for the campus's facilities and management of the facilities.
