If you're in Durham come late April, you better be heading down to Durham Bulls Athletic Park. Once he completes the Devil Rays' extended spring training program in St. Petersburg, Fla., the man, the myth, the legend himself-John Rocker-will arrive in Durham as a full-fledged member of the Bulls. He's sure to be around for a limited time only, so be sure to stop by and catch him before the Devil Rays come calling.

Column: Falling short of expectations

Before this season of ACC basketball got underway, nobody knew what to expect. A league which produced the last two national champions had lost nearly all of its well-known star power, and instead was ready to welcome some of the best recruiting classes in the country. Familiar names like Jason Williams, Juan Dixon and Roger Mason were nowhere to be found. Taking their places were players like J.J. Redick, John Gilchrist, Raymond Felton and Chris Bosh.







Former State ballboy Randolph returns to boos

RALEIGH -- As a little kid, Shavlik Randolph was a ballboy for the N.C. State basketball team. After his freshman year at Raleigh's Broughton High, Wolfpack head coach Herb Sendek offered him a scholarship. Randolph's grandfather, Ronnie Shavlik, was one of N.C. State's great players, and currently has his jersey hanging from the rafters at the RBC Center.
