Theo John's offensive rebounding has played a big role for Duke thus far.

The Blue Devils have their first game in two weeks Tuesday, and they will be without the services of backup center Theo John.

John is unavailable for the South Carolina State game due to a back injury, per the team's Twitter account. At the moment, there is no timetable on his return, a team spokesperson told The Chronicle.

John is not a member of the starting five of this year's team, but he has given quality minutes when teams possess physical bigs or when Mark Williams gets into foul trouble. Duke's next three games come against opponents whom it is heavily favored to beat, but the Blue Devils begin ACC play Dec. 22 against a talented and experienced Virginia Tech team that features first-team All-ACC selection Keve Aluma.
