Former Duke player David McClure hired by Indiana Pacers as player development assistant

Former Blue Devil David McClure has been hired by the Indiana Pacers as a player development coach, the team announced Monday.

McClure played at Duke from 2004 to 2009, missing the entire 2005-06 season with a left knee injury, and had a five-year professional career in the NBA D-League and overseas before spending the last two years in player development with the San Antonio Spurs.

The 6-foot-6 forward appeared in 124 games as a Blue Devil, averaging 2.2 points and 3.1 rebounds per contest. He is best remembered as a player for making a buzzer-beater to beat Clemson 68-66 during his redshirt sophomore season.

After his college career ended, McClure played one season for the Austin Toros in the D-League under former Blue Devil player and assistant coach Quin Snyder—who is now the head coach of the Utah Jazz—and played professionally in Lithuania for four years.
