Duke basketball to debut new jersey against Syracuse Feb. 28

The fashion statements continue for the Blue Devils.

Duke will debut new uniforms for the second time this month Feb. 28 against Syracuse, per the team's Twitter account. The new jerseys feature a novel take on the "Duke" across the front, with white block letters outlined in blue. Jersey numbers will still be blue, as on the usual home jerseys. The other noticeable change is the shorts, which will have silver trim.

The Blue Devils introduced a more traditional white alternate uniform last season and have worn them several times since. Duke defeated Florida State on the road Feb. 9 in blue versions of those simpler jerseys, and also wore them in the 80-72 win at the Carrier Dome Feb. 14.

The new look revealed Friday seems to be the latest in a series of one-time jerseys developed by Nike. In past years, Duke has received "big-logo" road jerseys which made their lone appearance in a loss at Maryland in 2013, and silver jerseys that appeared at a home game in 2012.

Seven other teams outfitted by Nike—Syracuse, Kentucky, Florida, Arizona, the Baylor and Connecticut women's teams and, of course, Oregon—will also receive the new uniform designs.
