Duke men's basketball releases official 2014-15 roster

Duke released its official roster Wednesday and there were plenty of new faces and names for Blue Devil fans to learn for the coming season.

The heralded class of center Jahlil Okafor, forward Justise Winslow and guards Grayson Allen and Tyus Jones were the most notable additions to this year's list. Okafor, who has been listed between 6-foot-10 to 7-foot throughout the spring, is the biggest player on the squad, coming in at 7-foot, 265-pounds. He beats out fellow 7-footer Marshall Plumlee by five pounds. The extra size will be welcome, as the Blue Devils lacked a dominating post player in the 2013-14 season.

But the No. 1 freshman class in the nation was not alone in being the new kids on the block.

Rice-transfer Sean Obi joins the incoming freshman as another key contributor on the roster but unlike Jahlil and Co., Obi will have to wait in order to see his presence make an impact. According to NCAA regulations, Obi—just as Rodney Hood was forced to do following his transfer from Mississippi State—must sit out one full season following his transfer before he can suit up for the Blue Devils. With talks about Jahlil being a possible one-and-done, Obi will certainly have his fair share of the paint to work in come the 2015-16 season.

And then there was the unexpected addition.

Sean Kelly, a former manager for the team and brother of former Duke forward and current Los Angeles Laker Ryan Kelly, was the sole surprise on the list. The Raleigh, N.C. native is this year's lone new walk-on player and will join guard Nick Pagliuca as the second walk-on.

Although it is unlikely Kelly will see the floor much, a source close with Kelly says this has been a personal goal for the Ravenscroft School product and his addition to the team has been in the works for a couple months.
