Jahlil Okafor and Tyus Jones set to square off on ESPN2

Close friends and top recruits Jahlil Okafor and Tyus Jones will share the hardwood at Duke next season.

They will also share the floor Thursday night but play for different teams as Okafor’s Chicago Whitney Young heads to Jones’ Appley Valley High School in Minnesota.

Duke basketball head coach Mike Krzyzewski and staff will be in attendance at the game, according to the Star-Tribune.

Okafor, the No. 1 recruit in 2014 according to ESPN, is a 6-foot-10 center while Jones, the No. 4 recruit, is the top-rated point guard. After more than a year of saying they would play college ball together, the duo made that dream a reality when they committed to Duke together in November.

The game will be aired on ESPN2 starting at 7 p.m.

There’s also a gem from Okafor in his latest USA Today blog about committing to Duke, in which he describes having a little fun with Coach K when they told him the night before that they were going to commit to him:

We called him the night before we announced, and he definitely wasn't expecting the call.
We both texted him and said that we had a concern and there was something that we wanted to talk to him about. So we did a conference call and Tyus said: "Coach K we've got something that we need to tell you..." And I said: "We wanna let you know that we're coming to Duke!"
It was funny because he didn't say anything. He was quiet for like 30 or 45 seconds. I had to say: "Coach? You there?"
He said he was at a loss for words, but he started talking and he was just really happy on the phone the whole talk. It was fun to have a legend like Coach K be that excited about us coming to his school. He actually thanked us for trusting him, and I really liked that. I know I made the right decision and that feels great.

In the post, Okafor also talks about playing Jones, so give it a read.

Justise Winslow, who took his official visit to Duke with Jones and Okafor, also committed in November, giving the Blue Devils a four-man class with guard Grayson Allen pledging last spring.
