Looney, a 6-foot-8 power forward, goes to Milwaukee Hamilton High School. He is the No. 11 ranked player in the class of 2014, according to ESPN.

The Blue Devils are thought to be the favorite for his services, while he's also considering Tennessee, Florida, Michigan State, UCLA and Wisconsin.

Looney visited Duke in September and had a "great experience."

Looney's decision could have a significant impact on the choice of Reid Travis, who will announce Nov. 8, according to Darren Wolfson. Travis, a 6-foot-8 forward from Minnesota and the No. 23 player in the class, visited Duke in September.

Looney's announcement comes after three of the most prized recruits in the class of 2014—Jahlil Okafor, Tyus Jones and Justise Winslow—took their official visits to Duke this weekend. Okafor and Jones, likely a package deal, are expected to make their decision in the coming weeks as well.

Check back with The Chronicle and The Blue Zone on Thursday for the news.
