Duke secures $5 million for language arts and media program



donated as part of Duke Forward, the University's capital campaign to raise $3.25 billion by 2017. LAMP will serve as an addition to the Thompson Writing Program and will teach freshmen writing skills for traditional and new media.

“As technology creates new ways to communicate, the need to speak and write clearly is more important than ever,” Brodhead said in a press release. “We are grateful for this generous gift...which will give all students opportunities to sharpen these critical skills.”





“We are honored to partner with Duke in pioneering an academic environment in which undergraduate students will acquire and hone skills of deliberate speech, civil discourse and effective interpersonal communication,” Berry said in the press release. “LAMP should be a beacon on the headland of future learning.”
