The Hip List

The end of bookbagging is upon us. Looking for some last minute selections? The Editorial Board has compiled a list.

Stay Enrolled: Duke Football Season

Sorry, no tailgate, but our guys killed it on the field on Saturday. They started the season off right by shutting out North Carolina Central University 45-0—enough said.

Add: Hopscotch Music Festival

A hop, skip and a jump away from campus for live music and festival fun. Since its inception four years ago, this three-day long music marathon in downtown Raleigh has grown to include over 175 artists and now attracts thousands of music fans from across the country. With a wide range of acts from electropop and heavy metal to country and garage rock, Hopscotch will offer something for everyone.

Drop: Bridge over Troubled Waters—Plaza Bridge to Close

Over the river and through the woods to Duke venues we go…

Back in the Bookbag: Duke Kushnan University

That one “area” of knowledge we just can’t seem to fulfill. Given that the opening has been delayed further and the possibility of success remains uncertain, we’ll be auditing until further notice.

Add: Heatwave 2013

DUU’s Major Attractions and Joe College Concerts combined forces to bring us a great mix of artists. Among these talents, Krewella lit up the stage, topping off the first week of classes. Who knew the quad could turn into a nightclub before the last day of classes? And so the countdown to LDOC begins...

Add: Biker Bar N.C.

The enterprising solution to all our bicycle blues and the only safe way to drink and drive—they steer, you pedal. New East-West Express anyone? Carbon Neutral 2024.

Drop: Classes on Labor Day

In the spirit of the holiday, Duke students continue to work.

Add: Employee art and Recording the Anthropocene exhibit in Perkins Library

Exciting new exhibits are open in Perkins, offering students a way to enjoy employee art and new ways to procrastinate. You weren’t really going to write that assignment, anyway.

Drop: Shooters Spikes the Cover from $5 to $10

It’s our party. We can do what we want, right? Wrong. Underage cover rises, along with damages, as Duke’s most destructive class takes on the famous saloon. Just please don’t break the bull.
