Jahlil Okafor trims list to eight, keeps Duke basketball

Jahlil Okafor, the No. 1 prospect in 2014 according to ESPN, trimmed his list to eight schools today on Twitter, keeping Duke.

Okafor, a 6-foot-10 center, visited Duke unofficially last year for Countdown to Craziness along with close friend Tyus Jones and Theo Pinson, who committed last week to North Carolina.

Okafor and Jones, a point guard and the No. 2 player in 2014, are close friends and have stated repeatedly they plan on playing college ball together.

Jones' list is down to seven schools: Baylor, Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, Ohio State, Michigan State and Minnesota.

Okafor had been dealing with an injury earlier in the spring but returned to action at the Nike EYBL in Dallas a few weeks ago.

Okafor will be at the USA Basketball Men’s U19 World Championship Team Training Camp in June along with current Blue Devil Rasheed Sulaimon. 2014 Duke basketball target Justise Winslow will also be trying out.

Duke already has one commit in the 2014 recruiting class, guard Grayson Allen.

With Pinson off the board and Allen in the fold, the 2014 players with known offers are: Devin Booker, Kevin Looney, Trey Lyles, Jones, Okafor and Winslow.
