Richa Jackson tears ACL, out for season

Sophomore Richa Jackson will miss the rest of the 2011-12 season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee, the team announced today.

Jackson suffered the injury in the Blue Devils' game Wednesday against Virginia Tech.

“We all feel so badly for Richa,” head coach Joanne P. McCallie said in a press release. “She is a special person and valued member of this team. No doubt she will be back stronger than ever. It is a new season for the team. We are a true work in progress.”

Jackson had played in all 25 of Duke's games this year, including 17 starts, averaging 9.4 points and 4.6 rebounds.

Duke has just eight healthy scholarship players left on the roster, having already lost Chloe Wells and Amber Henson for the season.
