Duke Is ACC Preseason No. 1

Duke easily swept the preseason awards at ACC Media Day yesterday, taking the No. 1 ranking with 61 out of 62 possible votes.

Kyle Singler was named preseason player of the year and was unanimously selected to the preseason All-ACC team. He is joined on that team by fellow captain Nolan Smith.

"Our program and our fans are accustomed to having a target on their backs," Krzyzewski said. "I'd rather have it there than not have it there."

North Carolina's Harrison Barnes, who the Blue Devils heavily recruited last year, was named preseason Rookie of the Year over Kyrie Irving.

The only reporter to not vote for Duke, Chris Miles from Roanoke, Va., said he mistakenly voted for North Carolina. He was not, as the Tar Heels' head coach Roy Williams originally thought, a North Carolina graduate.
