The City - "The Truth Hurts"

Similar to last week’s episode, this week on The City, Allie was hurt by the truth yet again. This time instead of hearing that her boyfriend cheated on her, she was hurt by the fact that she looks too skinny. Personally, I think the truth about her boyfriend cheating on her should hurt a little more than what Kelly Cutrone thinks about her appearance. Don’t get me wrong, I definitely think that Allie has the tiniest arms and her face always has that washed out look, but as Olivia explains to Whitney, “You think we can have Shamu coming down the runway…No!” After all, being skinny is what the modeling industry is all about. And according to Allie, she knows she’s healthy and happy the way she is, so there’s absolutely nothing wrong (except for the drugs she is taking that are keeping her happy).

In the beginning of Episode 7, “The Truth Hurts,” we see Allie hanging out with all of Whitney’s friends again, which is strange because they seem to be the only girl friends that Allie has, even though she’s lived in New York much longer than Whitney. Models do love the camera. Allie even goes so far as to help Whitney’s best friend, Erin, land a job at her modeling agency, One Management Agency. In fact, even when we’re in a recession, Erin is able to get a job after an interview that seemed to last less than two minutes! (What exactly did she do before this episode?) Then, it just keeps getting better for Erin, when her first love, J.R., happens to be at Kelly’s birthday party. The two love birds instantly rekindle their flames and the next morning we see that the two of them definitely had a good time the previous night.

And just after we thought we had seen the last of Kelly Cutrone after her birthday party, she ends up attending the One Management Agency Party that Allie, Whitney and everyone else just happen to be at. At least this time she apologizes to Allie, claiming to just be looking out for her, but she still slips in the comment, “the good thing about going to parties with models is that no one ever eats.” While it might seem like Kelly is a huge bitch, I think she’s just jealous of all the young, gorgeous girls on the show. I wonder how she'd like it if people were honest about her appearance.
