Duke adds 2 prospects to 2010 class

The two future Blue Devils verbally accepted offers following a campus visit this weekend.

At 6-foot-8 and 195 pounds, Hairston is a four-star power forward and scout.com's 26th-best player in his class. The Spotsylvania, Va. native averaged almost 18 points per game last year at Courtland High and was named to the Associated Press all-state first team as a sophomore.

Thornton, a 6-foot-2, 180-pound shooting guard, is also a four-star and rated 49th-best in the class. Last year, Thornton helped lead Gonzaga High to its second straight state title.

Hairston and Thornton join five-star shooting guard Andre Dawkins in Duke's Class of 2010.

All three recruits have had experience playing together as members of the D.C. Assault AAU team.

The Blue Devils are still recruiting five-star shooting guard Kenny Boynton and five-star forward Ryan Kelly to join Dawkins, Hairston and Thornton.

As the Class of 2010 takes shape, Duke still has only one 2009 commit, Mason Plumlee.
