Hospital visitor robbed

A visitor reported June 18 that he had been robbed at gunpoint while sitting in his car outside Lenox Baker Hospital. The suspect walked up to him, put a handgun to his throat, and demanded money.

The suspect fled the scene in a late model Mazda Protege, bronze in color. The suspect was described as a black male, early 20's, 5'6" in height, medium build, dark complexion and black hair in corn rows. He was wearing a white tank top t-shirt, light colored and possibly jean shorts. The suspect took three hundred dollars.

The incident took place at 4:23 p.m. June 18.

Jogger threatened by shears

A visitor reported June 19 that she had been assaulted while jogging in the Duke Forest. The visitor was jogging when she was approached by a man who displayed kitchen shears and demanded she go off the trail into the woods. She resisted and was able to escape without injury. The suspect was described as a Hispanic male in his 30's, 5'5" to 5'7" in height, 155 to 175 pounds in weight, stocky/pudgy build, olive complexion and black hair. He was wearing a white tank top t-shirt and light green khaki pants with the legs rolled up mid-calf.

Hubcaps purloined

A student reported that four hubcaps had been stolen from his car June 19. The car had been parked outside the Documentary Studies building at 1317 Pettigrew Street. The incident took place between 9:00 a.m. and 5:45 p.m. June 18.

The hubcaps were valued at $240.

Employee assaults hospital visitor

A visitor reported June 23 that he had been assaulted by another employee. The incident tool place at Duke Hospital North at the first floor service elevators.

The incident took place at 3:50 a.m. June 23.

Family squabbles at Duke Gardens

A visitor reported June 18 that she had been assaulted by her daughter. The incident took place in the Duke Gardens parking lot and occurred June 18 at 12:10 p.m.

The victim was not injured.

Mailbox mauled

An employee reported June 18 that the mailbox at 1508 Pinecrest Street had been vandalized. The damage was described as a large dent in the side of the mailbox. A rock was the apparent cause. The incident took place between 9:30 a.m. June 17 and 7:30 a.m. June 18.

The mailbox was valued at $40.

Timecard altered in scam

An employee reported that a Temporary Services employee had committed fraud by falsifying her timecard June 18. The employee was paid approximately $1,700 for hours reported but not worked.
