Letter: Asian Students Association endorses in DSG races

After extensive deliberations, the Asian Students Association formally endorses Shaomeng Wang for Duke Student Government president, Clifford Davison for executive vice president, Elizabeth Dixon for vice president for student affairs, Andrew Wisnewski for vice president for community interaction, Kevin Ogorzalek for vice president for facilities and athletics and Avery Reaves for vice president for academic affairs.

ASA is confident Wang is the best candidate for president due to his previous experiences grounded in residential life. He has a stronger, more accurate hold on the student pulse than any other candidate. Experience is essential for the executive vice president, and Davison's is indisputable. ASA truly values Mimi Wachendorf's policy oriented platform but remains more confident in Dixon's ability to effectively solve student concerns. Ogorzalek's environmental friendly policies and realistic vision for campus safety and unity are long overdue in the executive board. While both academic affairs candidates have strong platforms, Reaves has a more in-depth knowledge on how to implement policy changes within Trinity and Pratt. His previous experience is necessary during this time of change in Arts and Sciences.

These decisions were based upon Chronicle articles, candidate platform statements and profiles, a cultural group question and answer session and follow-up meetings with candidates running for president and vice president for academic affairs.
