Duke paces ACC in honor roll selections for 11th straight year

Duke student-athletes led the ACC in honorees on the Academic Honor Roll for the 11th straight year, league commissioner John Swofford announced last week. The ACC as a whole had a record 1,552 who met the criteria, with 294 of those coming from Duke.

The Honor Roll recognizes student-athletes who played in a varsity-level sport and earned a grade point average of 3.0 or better for the entire academic year. Placing behind the Blue Devils was North Carolina with 271, Virginia with 240, Maryland (149), N.C. State (144), Florida State (138), Clemson (117), Wake Forest (105) and Georgia Tech (94).

Featured on the list is All-ACC placekicker Sims Lenhardt and all-conference basketball standouts Trajan Langdon, Matt Harpring of Georgia Tech and Maryland's Kalisa Davis.

Also included were several student-athletes who earned top national honors in their sport. NCAA individual tennis champion Vanessa Webb qualified for the third straight year, while the nation's top collegiate golfer, Bryce Molder of Georgia Tech, made it for his freshman year.
