A number of former Duke basketball players, waiting for the NBA lockout to end, will be traveling with the Blue Devils on the tour of China and Dubai that kicked off yesterday. Recent Duke graduate Nolan Smith, who was drafted by the Portland Trailblazers in June, is the first of those players to join the team, though Grant Hill and Kyrie Irving are also expected to make appearances. Smith Reynolds professor of public policy and a professor of economics and law, writes about both the obvious and intangible costs and benefits associated with major programs. About 60 admitted high school seniors attended Latino Student Recruitment Weekend, an annual event hosted by Mi Gente and the Office of Undergraduate Admissions that helps to recruit students to Duke. Since graduating in 2007, Darby moved to Washington, D.C. and works for The New Republic, where she serves as deputy online editor.
