'A different level': Duke track and field shatters four programs records at Hokie Invitational

(01/23/23 1:13am)

Outside of Rector Field House in Blacksburg, Va., it was as chilly as could be. Inside, Duke was as warm as ever. The Blue Devils put together an impressive performance in the Hokie Invitational over the course of two days, setting four school records and providing plenty of reasons to be optimistic as the meat of their indoor season gets underway.

Take of the week: Duke women's basketball's historic defensive discipline is orchestrating a remarkable season

(01/19/23 8:18pm)

It is no secret that Duke is on a tear right now. The Blue Devils have not lost since late November when they played then-No. 3 UConn in the Phil Knight Legacy tournament in Portland, Ore., and since that point the squad from Durham has won 11 straight games. While some stellar offensive performances from big names like sophomore Shayeann Day-Wilson and senior Celeste Taylor have received heaps of praise, an aspect of this team’s game that has perhaps gone unnoticed for much of the season has been its defense.

(12/27/22 4:31am)

In many ways, this season can already be counted as a success for Duke head coach Mike Elko. He coached the Blue Devils through a remarkably quick U-turn that in the course of just one season, has brought the squad from a 3-9 record in 2021 to an 8-4 finish in the 2022 regular season.

Poor second-half outing mars Duke women's basketball's runaway win against Northwestern

(12/02/22 2:07pm)

Women’s college basketball games are played over the course of four quarters. On a chilly Thursday evening in Durham, Duke seemed to forget about the latter pair of frames. After jumping out to a 20-point lead at halftime and at one point extending that margin to 29, the Blue Devils imploded, blowing much of their lead to take the victory 66-50 against a relatively weak Northwestern squad.

Scouting the opponent: Wake Forest's high-flying offense presents challenge for Duke football on Senior Day

(11/22/22 9:54pm)

Last Saturday was a rough one for Duke. The Blue Devils struggled to convert on the several chances they had to pull ahead of Pittsburgh, and as a result lost a winnable game by a two-point margin to the Panthers. This week, Duke will return to Wallace Wade Stadium for Senior Day to take on Wake Forest in the regular-season finale. The Demon Deacons have been a strong team all year, so let’s see what they will have in store for Duke when they come to Durham Saturday.
