Revisions to tenure appeals process approved

At its first meeting of the academic year Thursday, members of the Academic Council unanimously approved proposed revisions to the tenure selection process as well as the merger of the geology department with the Nicholas School of the Environment-both of which had been under consideration by the council since last year (see related story, p. 1).

LoBiando, Tillery named to replace departing deans

The University has appointed two new assistant deans of student development, each of whom will begin their terms this fall: Debbie LoBiando, former director of residential life at the University of Evansville in Indiana, and Carmen Tillery, associate director of housing and residence life at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical University.






Fomer GPSC president outlines concerns for future

In a May 10 address to the Students Affairs Committee of the Board of Trustees, immediate-past president of the Graduate and Professional Student Council Michael Tino, fourth-year graduate student in cell biology, defined graduate and professional students as teachers, researchers, students and University community members, and pinpointed the challenges they encounter in these roles.
