After a year's worth of speculation about potential renovations to the Bryan Center and West Union building, the University has yet to produce any formal plans, ruling out previous hopes to start construction by the end of this semester. Instead, the space needs committee will issue a list of suggested modifications by the end of April; the report will then be considered by University Architect John Pearce.

In the most recent edition of Carolina Parent magazine, Duke University was named one of the state's 40 most family-friendly employers. The magazine highlighted a variety of Duke's family-friendly benefits, such as unlimited leave to care for an immediate family member and tuition assistance programs. However, some Duke employees said they think Duke's corporate attitude does not fit a family-friendly company.
